- New instructor: Dame Yseldra Thornehart, Inner Court Sentinel and archery master
- Shift from rapier to archery training to test Caelan’s changing body
- Key beats:
- Yseldra assesses narrower shoulders, looser wrists, wider hips, developing breasts
- Old 70 lb war bow replaced with lighter 50 lb recurve and narrower grip
- Introduces the “feminine draw”: higher elbow, cheekbone anchor, chest stillness, belly breathing
- Painful moment: bowstring hits breast through corset, proving archery needs new form and protection
- Yseldra mandates a breast guard for archery and warns it’s essential, not optional
- Outcome:
- early failures, then first clean target hit
- strong thematic reinforcement: technique must adapt to the new body, not force the old one back onto it
